"Francis Gary Powers- The Spy who fell from the Sky"

From February 21st to June 13th, the Allied Museum showed the exhibition AlliiertenMuseum "Francis Gary Powers- The Spy who fell from the Sky". The shooting down of theAmerican U-2 airplane over Soviet territory and the pilot's capture in 1960 led to a hardening of the fronts during the Cold War. The pilot's son, Francis Gary Powers Jr, put the exhibition together using items taken from the family's private collection. It was shown outside the USA for the first time.

"2 + 4 = 1. The international agreement on German unity"

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the signing on 12 September 1990 in Moscow a special exhibition documented the "Treaty on the Final Settlement with Respect to Germany". The exhibition title "2 + 4 = 1" took up on a quote uttered by U.S. Secretary of State James A. Baker when the negotiations of both German states with the Four Powers were successfully wrapped up: "We added correctly. Two plus four is a democratic Germany in a free and unified Europe." The exhibition was on display from 23 September 2000 to 28 January 2001.
