Spy Tunnel NewsApril 09, 2007
| The very successful special exhibition “How Fantastic” closed in January 2007. The new information, objects, photos and documents will remain available to visitors, however, since they have been incorporated into the relevant section of the permanent exhibition as part of its extensive reorganization. As has been the case until now, the exhibition sequence is constructed around the seven-meter-long section of the “original” spy tunnel. And there is more news as well: the U.S. intelligence service CIA has finally declassified the official report evaluating this unique operation. With the exception of William (Bill) Harvey, the head of the spy tunnel action, the participating CIA agents have not been named, however. The report nonetheless makes for interesting reading and provides a wealth of new information. To mention just one example: The operation’s code name was not the catchy “Operation Gold,” but rather the more sober “PBJointly”. Those keen to find out more will soon be able to read the report online at www.foia.cia.gov/ .
