Allied Museum collection areas
Our collection reflects the varied realms of political, military, and everyday life in which the Western powers were involved between 1945 and 1994. It is divided into nine collection areas: militaria, documents, picture archive, audio/film archive, large-scale objects, everyday culture, prints and drawings, signs, and private papers. The geographical focus is on Berlin. We also collect and preserve historical objects from garrisons in other regions of Germany. As a lender, we are a partner to museums in Germany and abroad.
A wide range
The permanent exhibition presents only a small portion of the Allied Museum’s collection. The vast majority of objects are kept in storage. Our current temporary exhibitions on topics of particular interest, which we open at least once a year, give us the opportunity to highlight selected objects from this treasure trove.
