“History Through Their Eyes”, a project of the Liberation Route Europe Foundation (LREF), organized conferences for school pupils and a traveling exhibition with the intention of encouraging young people in particular to explore the end of the World War II and the meaning of freedom and democracy. To this end, the LREF cooperates with five European partners: the region of Normandy (France), the municipality of Cassino (Italy), the Bastogne War Museum (Belgium), the Allied Museum and the municipality of Nijmegen (Netherlands). After stops in Caen and Nijmegen, the exhibition was on display at the Allied Museum until the end of November, before continuing on to the Bastogne War Museum in Belgium (December 14) and Cassino, Italy (February 15, 2019).
Since 2013, the Allied Museum has been a partner of the Liberation Route Europe Foundation (LREF), which seeks to keep the memory of the Second World War alive and has established a transnational European history trail along the historic route taken by the Allies during their liberation of Europe in 1944/45.
The project "History Through Their Eyes" was funded with the support of the European Union under the Programme "Europe for Citizens".
