The Berlin Airlift 1948/49

An interactive presentation for use in digital instruction

The US Embassy Berlin, the Allied Museum and the aid organization CARE have developed a learning package for pupils in secondary level II (grades 10– 13).

The learning package includes age-appropriate teaching materials that make the events of the  1948/49 Berlin Airlift tangible. Pupils are informed about the history of the Berlin Airlift, the situation in postwar Europe and the principle of direct, need-based humanitarian aid, symbolized by the Airlift, the candy bomber and the CARE package.

Upon request, we will be happy to provide you with the excerpt about Gail S. Halvorsen from the book Making of… Die Männer und Frauen der Berliner Luftbrücke 1948/49
and the craft materials for making a chocolate parachute.
