Statement by the Allied Museum concerning the Hamas attacks on Israel

The Allied Museum is shocked by the attacks by terrorist organisation Hamas on Israel. The violent crimes committed against civilians have left us speechless. However, as an institution of historical and political education, we must not, and we do not want to remain silent.

We are aware of Germany’s special responsibility, and we stand side by side with the Israeli state and the Israeli people. Our grief and our sympathy go out to the victims and their families. We sincerely hope that the hostages being held by Hamas are freed soon.

We also sharply condemn the support for these acts of violence we have been witnessing on our streets.

The Allied Museum stands unequivocally against all forms of anti-Semitism. In our future museum work, we will make sure that we emphasise the historical foundations of our democracy even more clearly. There is no room for hatred of Jews in Berlin.
